Take the New Menu for a Spin 🚗

A big part of the new menu redesign was focused around consolidating the core components of Outfit that we had been expanding upon for the past year. This meant combining links that we thought were key to the user, into accessible and semantically correct sections of the app.

To access the Menu, click on the Hamburger icon in the top left hand corner of the application. This will expand the menu, and no matter what page you navigate to, the menu will remember if you have opened it. Simply hide the Menu by clicking the collapse icon.

Like in the old menu, the Search bar is still easily accessible within the top bar, as are the breadcrumbs for your current location in the app.

Click on the tab that reflects your user level in Outfit to see how the app menu looks for you and how it has changed.

Author

Aside from the fact that the whole interface looks different, very little has changed for Authors. It is still a simple navigation featuring their personal Dashboard, their Projects and access to their account’s Asset Library.

However the one big change for authors is that instead of a My Profile tab, they can now access all of their account details by simply clicking on their avatar.

Designer

In an effort to streamline the Templating workflow and to avoid the old way of unnecessarily jumping between the Templates, Inputs and Formats windows, these views have been consolidated into 1 menu item called Templating (1). These items have been transitioned into a series of tabs that Designers can easily switch between (2).

Admin

As an administrator one of your main jobs is adding users and assigning those users to teams. However having those two directly linked actions as two separate tabs didn’t make sense in the old menu, so we combined them into the new consolidated Users and Teams section (1).

We hope you love the new Menu as much as we do! We know that new features are always a work in progress so if you have any feedback for us, please just send us a message via Intercom.
